So You Think a Planner isn't a Necessity? Think Again -
Planning a wedding can be one of the most stressful tasks in a couple's relationship. Identifying quality vendors, remembering hundreds of details, and planning a celebration within a manageable budget can dampen even the strongest romance. With the help of an experienced wedding planner, the whole process becomes much more manageable and can move seamlessly and easily.
As couples begin thinking about their wedding, they are often confused about their budget and how to choose vendors. It is often shocking to the newly engaged couple to discover how much preparation is involved. Couples are faced with decisions about everything from invitation wording to planning their honeymoon and they will find that enlisting the help of a professional makes the decision process quicker and easier.
Wedding planners are familiar with the local caterers, florists, photographers, and other suppliers, so they can save you valuable time and money. They can suggest vendors that will fit within your budget, as well as with your taste and style. One could spend hours and hours a day researching different vendors, trying to find who has the lowest price; a very time consuming task, especially when trying to work full time and plan your wedding. Time is money. Wedding planners are repeat customers for the vendors they will suggest to you; therefore they may be able to get better deals than if a newly engaged couple meets with a vendor on their own. You can be assured that your wedding planner will refer you to top quality vendors, as they have a reputation to uphold and they are only as good as the vendors they support.
Wedding planners are skilled in working out the details of a wedding, calculating costs, and executing the final plan. This does not mean that they will make all the decisions for you. On the contrary, a good wedding planner will give you ideas and options to consider, suggesting things that might work well with your own idea of a perfect wedding. Using a wedding planner to help with your wedding doesn't take you out of the unique experience of planning your wedding, but simply makes it more efficient.
Ultimately, what a wedding planner will bring to your wedding plans is experience. No matter how great your ideas are, no matter how enthusiastic you are about the process of planning a wedding, a wedding planner has experience in planning many more weddings than you have. By utilizing the experience that these consultants have, you'll find that the process of planning your wedding comes with fewer mishaps, a greater focus on what is most important to you and more time on your hands. Since your wedding planner has done this many times before, the planner knows the proper sequence of events and how they should be handled.
Still think you want to plan your own wedding? Great! You can still plan the wedding of your dreams yourself and utilize the experience of a wedding planner on your wedding day. When the big day arrives, the last thing you want to do is worry about every little detail. The day has finally arrived and you should be enjoying yourself and your guests! You shouldn't be overseeing the setup of your chairs or that your bubbles get set next to the door, or that your photographer is in the right place when it is time to cut the cake. A wedding planner helping out on the day of your wedding can perform all of those tasks for you and even remember all the little details that you have forgotten or haven't even thought of!
Remember, hiring a wedding planner isn't an expensive luxury; it's a necessary tool for ensuring your wedding is everything you want it to be. More often than not, through their connections with vendors, and their knowledge and experience in the industry of weddings, a wedding planner will end up saving you more money than you spent on their fee. So don't delay, hire your wedding planner today!

Before Looking for a Photographer - Define the Style of Photography that Fits Your Wants & Needs
Pausing Time as a Way of Re-living the Past
It is no easy task to truly preserve those precious expressions of you as a three year old. It is equally difficult to match that expression to youself as a young adult about to make a life-long commitment.
The same skills used to preserve the Treasured Moments of you as a three year old are used when I do your wedding photography.
Time, . . . when you, as a subject, allow me, as a photographer, to become a part of your life for the day, . . . you and yours set the stage for everyone else. If you're comfortable with your photographer, everyone else will relax as well.
MartinWaidelich Photographer is an experienced Photojournalist with many years - first as a Staff Photographer and then finally the last 9 years as a Photo Editor and Presentation Editor of the Bellingham Herald. These positions and professional experience provide a strong skill-set to document your wedding day. As a Photojournalist I use my 'news' instincts to watch you and yours as you go about your day - anticipating your mood, actions, and perhaps most important of all those little jestures of love the two of you share quitely.
Photojournalistic wedding coverage is not for everyone. If the magazine images of you and yours are your dream - it's likely I'm not a fit. If you're looking for 'moments' - 'treasured moments' preserved . . . If you're looking for strong action photography of your recieption, the kids being kids and those kisses the two of you share when you just don't care what anyone else is thinking . . . it's likely we will work together well.
"My style is not as important as who you & yours are... but when we combine the two... magical images are created." Invest in who you are - Photojournalism practiced and delivered. Thanks for taking a moment, m.

Choosing a Minister/Officiant to Perform Your Ceremony
Choosing a wedding minister/officiant is easily accomplished if you or your partner belong to a church. The clergy of the church will perform the ceremony according to your religious beliefs. But many couples who are planning a wedding don't attend church, or the individuals are from different religious backgrounds, or maybe they don't intend to go through the pre-marital counseling the church usually requires. So, how does a couple go about finding the right person to perform their wedding ceremony?
The first choice you make about your ceremony should be where to have it. Now days, couples are getting married at any location of their choice: parks, backyards, on the beach, in community centers, hotels, quaint little chapels, in the mountains, meadows, by rivers, on horseback or motorcycles; the ideas are endless.
When you have decided on where to have your wedding, you will have the date, and perhaps the time of your ceremony. You then might want to think about what kind of ceremony you would like to have. Do you want a formal, casual or traditional ceremony? Or would you like to have fun with it and incorporate some of your own personal interests or backgrounds: Scottish, Celtic, Oriental, Medieval, 50's, Fantasy, Country Western, Tie-Dye, a Sports theme, or any thing else you can imagine.
The next step will be to hire your vendors: the florist, photographer, cater, etc. There are several ways to find an officiant to perform your ceremony. Do you know someone who has recently gotten married? Perhaps someone you know has a referral. Do you want a good friend or relative to perform your ceremony? If so, they will need to be ordained. You can look in your local phone book under wedding chapels & ceremonies'. There are several there to choose from. More people then ever are finding an officiant online.
Your wedding ceremony is one of the most important moments of your life. Don't settle for anything less. Make sure you feel comfortable with the person. Unless you don't really care about who will deliver your ceremony, don't hire the first person you talk to. And unless price is a strong consideration, don't hire the cheapest.
Will this person help you feel relaxed on a day when most people are feeling overwhelmed? How much experience do they have? Do you prefer a man or a woman to perform your ceremony, or does it matter? What does he or she wear? What kinds of ceremonies do they perform? Will they allow you to have any kind of ceremony you want, or are they pretty rigid? Do they give you only a couple of ideas for the wording, or will they help you create a ceremony which will be unique to you as individuals and as a couple?
Find out what is included in the price of the officiant's services? Will they meet with you, no charge, to see if you would like to hire them? How many times will they meet with you before the ceremony? Is the rehearsal extra? Do they even attend the rehearsal? Do they require a deposit or a traveling fee? Do they have a back-up person in case something comes up where they can't make your ceremony? How soon before the ceremony do they arrive? What else is offered? Can they answer any of your other questions you may have concerning your wedding?
The most important thing to remember is to feel comfortable with the person you choose. This person will be speaking the words to you and your guests which will make your special day a day to remember for a life time.
Deciding on the wording of your ceremony is one of the most important tasks to undertake. Make it personal. What does marriage mean to you? Tell the story of how you met. Talk about how your relationship has changed, how you as individuals have changed, what you're looking forward to.
